Noah - 9 months
Noah was 9 months when dressed up to the 9s he lets slip an enigmatic smile as the sun reveals a contented boy perched on a formal chair.
His mum had no idea I was painting this and when I showed the family the portrait it was an emotional complete surprise, apart from little Noah who immediately reached out to touch the painting. I love the way that even before he can speak he recognised his place in the World.
The grip of his left hand says - seize the day - and the reflection of his skin tones on the blazing white trousers means I'll carry his smile with me wherever I go.
Rolf turns up to admire the finished portrait.
