Boys fishing
To discover the pleasure of fly fishing, the school organised a course at a nearby lake. Billy and his mates spent several hours each week casting their rods and trying to tickle a trout.
The real thrill of course is not so much the catching of a fish (they didn't get many) but being absorbed in the stillness and contemplating fish, the lake, your friends, the moment....
With this painting I aimed to catch the mood of the early summer evening when the fish may have been biting but the sky and the reflections give us a glimpse of serenity and the boys' concentration.
